Welcome to the Department of Curriculum & Instruction
The Curriculum & Instruction Department is responsible for guiding the development of the curriculum for the District. Missouri’s Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) sets the learning standards for each grade level. The Curriculum and Instruction team members provide supports for schools in the area of curriculum, student performance and academic support, assessment, and professional development. We use both state and local assessments to measure academic progress.
The Curriculum & Learning Department believes that ALL scholars in the Riverview Gardens School District can achieve and excel at high levels. Our goal is to nurture academic excellence in all scholars by preparing them to be college and career ready in an ever-changing society.

Understanding by Design Framework
The Understanding by Design framework concentrates on improving student achievement. UbD designs curriculum backwards focusing on teaching and assessing for understanding and learning transfer.
