ACE serves approximately 185 high school students from Riverview Gardens who need assistance with credit recovery or obtaining a diploma in an alternative setting.  ACE also serves approximately 45 middle school scholars who are one grade level behind their kindergarten cohort group as well as scholars who work better in smaller settings.

Scholars are accepted into ACE  by a referral process beginning at the scholar’s home school. Referrals are made for a variety of reasons which may include credit recovery, individualized instruction, alternative setting, social/emotional or behavioral concerns, school to work transition or diploma completion. Students retain enrollment at their home school while attending ACE even though they may not have courses on the home school campus.  The goal of ACE is that students will return to their home school as soon as possible or graduate.

Programs

What can Alternative Education offer you?

ACE Learning Centers

ACE Program allows the non-traditional students who may have behavioral, academic or social challenges get back on track to graduate. Flexible, computerized sessions are offered three times each day for students who may have personal issues making them at risk of dropping out of school. Students who complete the program receive a high school diploma. Riverview Gardens has 225 student seats available for the program. ACE requires fewer credits to graduate than the traditional high school program.

Session 1 (7:00AM-10:00AM) Session 2 (10:00AM-1:00PM) Session 3 (1:00PM-4:00PM)

Missouri Options Program

Missouri Options Program permits Riverview Gardens students who are at least 17 years of age and at risk of dropping out or not graduating with their cohort group, the opportunity to earn a standard high school diploma. Students can graduate through the program based on competencies rather than credits. The program utilizes a high school equivalency exam (HISET test) as content mastery for graduation purposes. The exam sanctioned by the state for the Missouri Option program is the HiSET® test. Missouri Option students successfully passing the exam and completing all other program requirements are eligible to receive a high school diploma. The program currently serves 10 students. The students meet the requirement of 15 in-class hours at the center with additional time spent outside of class to meet requirements. Students are able to participate in school related activities.
