For Black History Month, Highland students learned about inventors, musicians, activists, trailblazers, HBCUs and more. Our program, Step into Black History, was held on February 27. Performances included the Black American Heritage Flag, Fannie Lou Hamer, George Washington Carver, a poem from Langston Hughes and one about Trayvon Martin. There were songs such as This Little Light of Mine, the National Black Anthem, and Stand Up. The programs concluded with an African dance, Boys of Vision step team and a powerful reenactment of the Greensboro Sit-In. Highland staff and students did a wonderful job showcasing their talents and the importance of Black History.
