In an effort to enhance safety measures across all campuses, the Riverview Gardens School District has announced that all students in grades pre-kindergarten through 12th grade will be required to use clear backpacks during the 2025-2026 school year.
The new policy is part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security and continue to provide a safe environment for scholars and staff members.
The clear backpack policy will apply to all district schools, including the early childhood center, elementary schools, middle schools and Riverview Gardens High School.
Many school systems nationwide have implemented similar practices in response to enhance school safety. Families will receive additional information over the summer regarding approved backpack styles and resources for purchasing them.
All fully registered RGSD students will receive free clear backpacks and school supplies at the annual Back-to-School Bash (while supplies last) on Thursday, July 31.
RGSD also has several partnerships if you need assistance obtaining clear backpacks for your children. Contact RGSD Central Services at 314-869-2505!
