The Riverview Gardens Education Foundation brought Black children’s literature to another RGSD school. On October 1, 2021, the RGEF presented each kindergarten through third-grade classroom at Lewis & Clark Elementary School a set of Black children’s literature books. The books are now a permanent part of each of the personal classroom libraries at the school and are available for scholars to enjoy during quiet time.

The State Board of Education today issued a proclamation to add two members to the Riverview Gardens School District (Riverview Gardens) Special Administrative Board (SAB) — Dr. Miranda Avant-Elliott and Reggie Jones. These new members begin their service effective immediately, expanding the SAB from three members to five. The State Board’s proclamation also dictates the SAB will reorganize and determine the SAB leadership within 14 days.

Gibson Elementary School was awarded $25,000 via the National School Lunch Program Equipment Assistance Grant. The award will fund a new walk-in combination cooler/freezer installed at Gibson Elementary.

The Riverview Gardens School District has been awarded $15,672,712 through the American Rescue Plan Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief (ARP ESSER) funds. The Special Administrative Board approved this budget application at the June 22 board meeting. It is the intent of the school district to focus on the following initiatives using ESSER funds:
